"Kissing the war goodbye" is a famous photography taken by a US Navy lieutenant, Victor Jorgensen, on Times Square in New York on August 14th 1945 the day that Japan capitulated.
A soldier from the Navy is kissing a young nurse to celebrate the end of the conflict and the victory of his country. Another photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt, took the photo from a different angle. His cliché was entitled "The kissing sailor".
Three men and two women claimed they were the people on the photos but there is still doubt about their identity.
